Concerts & Events 2008

Throughout the summer season, Stresa and the surrounding towns are host to free concerts and events.

Please follow the links on the left for concerts and events happening when you will be in Stresa. The first events for 2008 will be posted in May as soon as the details are released by the tourist office.

Among the free concerts to be held in Stresa for 2008 are the "Sound of America" honour band (due to take place on either 16th or 17th July), folklore shows, jazz concerts, and classical music concerts every Monday and Friday until the end of September held at the Regina Palace (NB. These concerts are cancelled when there is a Stresa Musical Weeks concert in Stresa on the same day).

Stresa is also hosting the finale of the Ascona International Jazz festival for 2008 on Sunday 6th June. The centre of Stresa becomes a Jazz party with stages dotted all round the town offering different jazz performances. 

There are many other free concerts throughout the season - if you visit the Tourist Office (English spoken) at the Ferry Station in Stresa they can provide you with an up to date programme.

Of particular note are the Stresa Musical Weeks which are an annual event held at various venues around the lake from churches to grand concert halls. In Baveno, the annual Umberto Giordano Festival held during July and includes opera, music, dance and poetry. The full concert programme and information for purchasing tickets can be found on the following website: www.festivalgiordano.it

Also, many of the bars in the centre of Stresa have live piano bar music in the evenings. Bar Bolongaro opposite the ferry terminal has live music every night during June, July and August.

August 15th is the Italian festival of Ferragosto (assumption of the Virgin Mary) which is celebrated with incredible firework displays. There are 2 in the Stresa area in Pallanza and Laveno.
