The Anzasca Valley: following in the footsteps of the gold miners at
the foot of Mount Rosa
Tradition, Nature & Walking
Duration
¾ day.
Description
For
centuries the Anzasca Valley survived on farming and gold-mining.
The underground tunnels from the gold mine penetrated for miles into
the mountains as the miners searched for gold.
One of the mines once employed thousands of miners
and is now open to the public. A guided tour allows you to discover
what life was like for the miners and the struggle they faced in
their search for gold.
In Val Quarazza, after the artificial “Fairy-Tale” Lake you can see
the remains of the village which once housed the miners but is now
abandoned.
